Pros:The hotel has tons of charm, the staff was excellent and the short ride to the ski resort was awesome. Met people from all over , England, Netherlands, Brazil, other parts of Canada too. Very cool.
Cons:The hot tub seemed to only get to 39 degrees. Missed that extra degree or so of warmth. Still nice to sit in after a long day skiing.

Pros:The staff was incredibly helpful and the food is very good. The hot tub on the roof offers amazing views - not to be missed.. It's also great for unplugging. There is WiFi, though only one TV. It's the kind of thing you appreciate when you've unplugged for a few days. It offers good value for money. Imagine the Fairmont Chateau just a short 10 min walk away. Yes, much grander and directly on the lake, though for a very steep premium and less of the charm.
Cons:The old rooms need an update. The decor is often still from when the lodge was built, and so is some of the infrastructure (plumbing, heating), which seems to create the odd problem. The old rooms also have a dark feel to them. They are being kept very clean though and one tends to spend little time there anyway.

Pros:Was a cute place with a very cozy room and cute decor. Loved looking at all the old photographs of Banff.
Cons:I thought it was a little ridiculous that dinner for two at the restaurant in the hotel would be far more than the cost of the actual room. So if you don't want to double or triple your costs you better be ready to drive into town.

Pros:Gracious, old-fashioned elegance. Friendly, patient, professional and well-informed staff. Delicious and interesting food and great views from the dining room. Very short walk to beautiful Lake Louise.
Cons:The room was very small, which I think is typical of inns of this vintage. But there were comfortable areas in which to sit downstairs, so there was no need to spend a lot of time in the room.

Pros:Gorgeous location, great staff. Beautiful building and restaurant is amazing.
Cons:Room was tiny without tv... Great for a solo work trip. Shower/bath were dingy and not fully functioning. Walls are thin. Windows dont properly open- temperature is an old radiator which we turned off had a window open and still couldn't sleep from the heat (in March?)
