There is very little in the title" Premium" in the Economy experience with Cathay, Melbourne to Hong Kong. The seats are uncomfortable and the cabin with outdated 1990's decor and trim. The food service was sloppy and the leg room providing little to no advantage over regular economy seating. Infact, the Sunday flight was not fill occupancy and I would have done better saving the significant additional costs for the PREMIUM ticket and taken advantage of the seating. If you are a regular premium economy traveler of EMIRATES expecting the same experience on CATHAY, you will be disappointed. Emirates far superior.

In flight entertainment system including wifi were down and passengers got tortured for the 16 hours flight without any of these. Food was spoiled as well for the first meal provided but second meal was Ok. Overall a horrible experience which was not at all expected for such a long haul flight which was expected to be THE most memorable part of my planned trip for family.

Everything went smooth. All flights were on time No changing gates, . No changing flights . It was like a completely different airlines tha n the last time I used Cathay Pacific . The last flight, 2 months ago, I had before this one was from Philippines also . I got changed in Manila and was told it only added 2 hours onto my flight . My 20 hour return trip ended up being 30 hours return with a 10.0 hour layover in New York with no seats anywhere . Everyone was sleeping or sitting on the floor . Unlike the hotel I was given in Manila to wait for this flight home . I never thought I would use Cathay Pacific again . But I did and this time you were great! I should have complained about the flight and layover from Hell a couple months ago. Consider that I am complaining about that august/23 flight now . Thank you got the great flying experience on my way home from philippines .

Cons:We requested wheelchair assistance for my grandmother (3 days before the flight), but at the departing airport, the person with the wheelchair left early and we had to walk her on to the plane. When we arrived at Hong Kong, there was no wheelchair on the bridge, and after disembarking and being told to wait, it took 30 minutes for them to bring one. The ground staff kept trying to convince us to just walk which seemed very unprofessional.

Overview of Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is a global leader in transcontinental and controls operations from its hub in Hong Kong. It serves more than 45 countries and flies to every inhabited continent apart from South America. The airline appeals to a wide range of customers from across the world, with scheduled flights based around most major destinations.

In 1998 it partnered with Qantas, British Airways, American Airlines and Canadian Airlines to become founding members of the oneworld alliance. The association helps Cathay Pacific link to a broader global network, using their gateway destinations in North America and Europe to reach smaller cities. Customers can benefit from smoother transfers on connecting flights. Additional destinations are available in China through the carrier’s subsidiary Cathay Dragon.

To accommodate long-distance transcontinental routes, Cathay Pacific operates an entirely wide-body, dual-engine fleet. A combination of Airbus and Boeing aircraft are used. Following on from being the launch airline for the Boeing 777-300 series, it continues to be one of the largest operators of the aircraft in the world. Several of the fleet are decorated in a dark grey oneworld livery, while others feature the company’s logo on top of a dark green base.

There is a wide range of cabin class options that include Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class. Passengers in Premium Economy and above are supplied a glass of champagne upon boarding. Ergonomically designed seats in the Business section offer power outlets and adjustable lighting to make working on-the-go easy. In First Class you will find a flatbed that fully reclines and is fitted with a 500 thread duvet. An Aesop amenity kit ensures traveling won’t make you look tired.
