The front desk staff were really friendly and helpful. Then it’s all downhill. No room service. The ‘Restaurant’ is very small. (Nothing like the hotel pictures). There was only one staff member serving behind the bar and she was not very friendly or helpful. Not want you want after a long journey! There were dirty plates and cups on the tables, so you had to move them before you could sit down. We ordered burgers, which were good but took a while to come out. Some people didn’t even get their food as she forgot to put the order through. The room was a standard size with a comfortable bed, large TV with decent channels. Ask for bottled water as not provided in room. Free Shuttle service is useful to and from JFK. However at the airport, you have to order the shuttle using a link. You can’t just wait for it to arrive. You have to get the train at JFK and head for federal circle and walk to the bus stops. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

I called about a week prior to my arrival date and specifically told their front desk that I will need a quiet room on the higher floor. When I checked in, they gave me a room on the 5th floor near the elevators and ice-maker. The staff who checked me in refused to changed me to another room on a higher floor and explained that they had large groups of guests and were unable to change me to another room. So, there is no point to call ahead and tell them my requests for my stay in this hotel.

The hotel was nothing real special. A typical Hampton Inn with ok amenities. The staff was friendly enough. We were only there for a night to fly out of JFK. Hotels all over have gotten over priced so I try not to hold it against them but for around $300 for a night it wasn't anything special. Part of the price was for parking which I didn’t see listed anywhere so that was an unwelcome surprise when we checked in. One staff person behind the counter in particular was very friendly and gave a few helpful suggestions so that was nice.

Pros:The Hampton Inn JFK was a great place to get some rest when you have to layover for a flight. The shuttle was a quick ride and the drivers where very friendly. Would definitely recommend this Hotel and I will stay here again next time I have a JFK layover!
